The CEO of NL Health Services has no problem with the service provided by the chief of family medicine in central Newfoundland.
NLHS came under fire from the PCs for allowing Dr. Ammar Al-Rubaye to split his duties between this province and Ontario.
Dr. Pat Parfrey defended the longtime central physician, noting he championed virtual care in the region and his staffing reports are “excellent.”
“He is doing an effective job, he is providing care full time, he does come back to Gander, he does provide virtual care — which in our mind is an important part of our society right now in terms of primary care and emergency care—so I support him being in the job.”
