A teenager, lost in a wooded area in central Newfoundland was located safe and sound early this morning.

RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor were contacted around 10:30 last night after a boy, traveling alone on his dirt bike, called his family on his dying cell phone indicating that he had run out of gas and was lost on a woods road near the Exploits River.

Exploits Search and Rescue were called, but the boy was found by RCMP around 3:30 this morning near Sandy Lake.

The teen was cold, but otherwise unhurt.

He was reunited with his family a short time later.
