The NDP is slamming the Tories for asking to pause the MOU on Churchill Falls.
PC Leader Tony Wakeham wants the province to hold off on negotiations regarding the Churchill Falls MOU, and instead wait to see how a national energy corridor would unfold.
NDP Leader Jim Dinn pulled no punches, asking Wakeham to “show his work,” saying his plan to wait for a national energy corridor would kill the Labrador economy.
“Preliminary work has already begun on Gull Island, so at this point I would have to ask the PCs, show me what exactly this thing is that you’re talking about, and why we need to pause,” he told reporters.
“I’m not seeing anything, and I’m not prepared to sign on to something that definitely is going to hurt the district of my colleague (Labrador West MHA Jordan Brown), and by extension, the people of this province.”
In a statement to VOCM News, Wakeham accused Dinn and the Liberal government of rushing the agreement so that they can win an election.
