Fire bans are now in effect throughout the northeast Avalon as many parts of the province are at a high risk for forest fires.
Fire bans are in place for St. John’s, Mount Pearl, Paradise, Conception Bay South and Portugal Cove-St. Philips and will remain in effect until Tuesday, June 3 when it will be re-evaluated.
Some rainfall is in the forecast for most of the island and Labrador through the weekend and into next week.
Area fire departments are continuing to monitor the situation closely.
