The energy minister remains bullish over the province’s wind to hydrogen potential, despite the fact that hydrogen development isn’t progressing as quickly as some had hoped.
World Energy GH2 says the hydrogen/ammonia market is not maturing at the rate expected and policies, pricing and pipelines are not yet ready to support market development.
The province has a number of developing wind to hydrogen projects. Energy Minister Steve Crocker doesn’t see the current market conditions as a detriment to our hydrogen potential.
Crocker admits, “I think coming out of the gate, there were very ambitious targets, but we still see confidence in this industry.”
He says we have global partners including MOUs signed with Hamburg and the Port of Rotterdam. So, there is still a very promising industry here, but “as these things go, they take time.”
