Nearly two dozen mechanics from Capital Hyundai are on strike.
Mechanics voted 100 per cent in favour of a strike.
In a statement to VOCM News, Capital Auto Group says while they’re “disappointed by the union’s decision to walk away from negotiations and strike,” they respect the right to strike.
Roger Spracklin, president of Teamsters Local 855, says pay has been an issue for workers, and they do not believe they’re “asking for the moon and stars.”
“They’ve done a great job for themselves and they have a beautiful building. I hear they’re winning awards and accolades all over. We know they’re doing well, and we want our pay to reflect that,” he told VOCM News.
He says they’re hoping to be back in the shop later this week.
