The Newfoundland Regiment hockey team made their first picks as part of the QMJHL draft held last night in Quebec City.
St. John’s native Ben Veitch was the first pick, going fifth overall.
CBS-born Quinn Norman was also picked up last night, alongside Nova Scotia’s Fenwick MacLean.

The event also gave fans a first look at their unofficial jerseys, which will be slightly re-branded when the league moves to a new supplier.
The navy jersey featured burgundy shoulders, with patches of a chevron topped with a crown.
Club president Glenn Stanford says the jerseys are “built on tradition, resilience, and a relentless drive for excellence.”
