The MHA for Placentia West-Bellevue is calling for immediate action to clean up the site where some 700 litres of diesel fuel spilled from a transport truck back in February.
PC MHA Jeff Dwyer says it’s been more than four months since the accident and wreckage from the crash is still sitting on the side of the road.
He says there is a strong smell of fuel in the area and the signs of contamination are clearly visible.
Dwyer says the provincial government has pointed to delays with contractors, to waiting on the insurance company, and now the matter is before the courts, but he says he’s tired of excuses and residents want action.
He says Swift Current is a beautiful part of the province and residents are fed up. He wants the province to clean up the site and bill whoever is responsible.
