Premier John Hogan is meeting with his eastern Canadian counterparts and northeast U.S. governors in Boston today with the hope of strengthening regional integration among the Atlantic provinces.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is introducing legislation to help reduce interprovincial trade barriers and focus on “nation building” projects.
Hogan says Carney’s plans are coming together quickly as Canada responds to Trump’s tariffs and threats to national sovereignty—and today’s discussions will help to address regional opportunities.
“It’s an opportunity now to meet with my Atlantic colleagues to further those discussions about regional opportunities, how we can develop projects that are good not only for Newfoundland and Labrador, but for PEI, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia as well. I think it’s a really good opportunity to follow-up on those conversations from Saskatoon.”
