The MHA for the Bay of Islands is seeking answers on a number of health care questions on the west coast.
Eddie Joyce says almost on a daily basis he fields questions about backlogs regarding the number of beds in long-term care.
He says the Corner Brook region was promised another 45 long-term care beds in the old facility to help free up acute care beds at the new hospital. He says the new beds were due mid-year, but he can’t get a progress report.
“I can’t get an update,” says Joyce. “Is it still on track, or is it going for July that it’s going to be done?”
He is also looking for a status update on the radiation unit at Corner Brook, which he’s been assured is close to gaining a radiation oncologist.
