A man who refused orders by police to quit following a woman who had bought him a few beers at a bar in an effort to get away from him is in the lockup after getting into a scrap with the officers.

The man and woman were in a verbal altercation in the area of Cookstown Road at about 9:00 last night but when she tried to walk away, he insisted on following. RNC told him to do otherwise, but instead he decided to take a swing at an officer with closed fist. Police arrested him but the 38-year-old continued to fight and spat in the face of one of the cops. While en route to the lockup, the man told police that he would kill them.

He will answer to numerous charges today.
