A man who was nearly twice the legal alcohol limit has been arrested after a hit and run in Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s.

Police first started getting calls from at least three concerned citizens about the 40-year-old just after 5:00 yesterday afternoon.

The man was arrested at his home and taken to St. John’s lockup to face charges of impaired driving.

His license has been suspended, his vehicle has been impounded, and he will appear in court at later today.
