A Bay de Verde lobster fisherman recently discovered that he has quite the knack for catching rare crustaceans.
Thomas Doyle recently caught an albino lobster, which is only found in one in every 100-million of the bottom dwellers.
Then, on Canada Day, he caught a yellow one, which is only found in one in about every 30-million lobsters.
Doyle’s albino lobster had a “v-notch” meaning it was part of a conservation effort, and was housed in a special aquarium in Petty Harbour for nearly six months after a fisherman caught it off the coast of Bay de Verde in 2023.
Both lobsters have since been released to the ocean so that they can breed again.
