The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary plans to increase its presence as concert-goers prepare to flock to festivals across the province.
Cst. James Cadigan says police plan to be on site to make sure everyone is mindful of the law.
From all accounts, this summer will be one of the busiest ever in metro with many events including the Canada Summer Games.
Drunk driving, drink spiking, and rowdiness are all things that Cadigan says officers will be looking for.
“These types of festivals, we’re responding to the same types of calls we do throughout the community and it’s about ensuring the community understands that you have the right to report any suspicious activity you observe,” he told VOCM News.
“We want to hear about it because we want to intervene if in fact there is any criminal activity involved. You can report a crime in progress directly to 9-1-1. We want to respond immediately to those types of events.”
