Two new radiation oncologists have been recruited for Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook.
Krista Lynn Howell, the minister of health, says as part of the expansion of the cancer care program, chemotherapy and other cancer spaces have increased to 15 from 10, two dedicated telehealth spaces have been added with updated technology, and there are additional social workers to support oncology patients.
Radiation oncology services at Western Memorial are being introduced in phases.
Patients will be notified by their radiation oncologist regarding whether their treatment will be provided at Western Memorial in Corner Brook or Dr. H. Bliss Murphy in St. John’s.
