Cabinet minister and west coast MHA Scott Reid was the third member of the Liberal party to announce yesterday that he would not be seeking re-election.
Reid has spent the last 11 years representing the district of St. George’s-Humber and served in various roles including speaker and minister responsible for Indigenous Affairs.
In a post to social media, Reid says he debated whether or not he would run again for quite some time and ultimately decided not to seek re-election.
He thanked residents for their support over the past decade and plans to remain active in the district after political life.
Fellow cabinet ministers Steve Crocker and John Haggie also announced they would not be seeking re-election in separate posts to social media, adding to the growing number of Liberal members who have chosen not to run in the upcoming election.
