St. John’s councillors are unanimous in their assertion that the city will be “on wheels” for the next month and a half.
But they’re also sounding a cautionary tone for residents to stay on top of, and be prepared for more road closures and disruptions than usual.
The Canada Games will have a lot to do with that, with planned closures of major roads from the Outer Ring Road to the streets of downtown.
The latter will be the site of cycling races.
“Watch out for that—racing through Water Street and Harbour Drive, that’s going to be one of the most exciting things you’re going to see,” said Councillor Sandy Hickman. “It will disrupt traffic for a while but it’s going to be spectacular.”
