The town of Wabana on Bell Island is paying forward some of the kindness received a couple of years ago when it lost an important piece of equipment.
Two years ago the town’s fire pumper truck was lost in a blaze. That’s when the town of Southern Harbour stepped up and donated a pumper truck they no longer needed.
The town says it is “truly grateful” for that act of kindness, noting that the truck still serves the community to this day.
Now, it’s doing something similar for another local government. Wabana is going to donate its truck, which it no longer needs, to Hare Bay.
The town says it’s pleased to lend a helping hand, noting that as a smaller municipality it understands the importance of supporting each other.
