Premier John Hogan says Newfoundland and Labrador is ideally situated to take advantage of the federal government’s desire to fast track nation-building projects.
Hogan, just back from a First Ministers Conference in Huntsville, Ontario, raised the prospect of the development of large projects such as Churchill Falls, Gull Island and Bay du Nord with the PM.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford welcomes Carney’s move to reduce the regulatory burden on such projects, saying the problem is not with the proponents, but government.
Hogan says the projects in this province are ready to go now.
“Our projects are shovel ready,” says Hogan. He says the topic was discussed at the last round of First Ministers meetings in Saskatchewan a couple of months ago, saying other province’s are at the concept stage.”
