A man is facing a slew of charges after a day-long escapade that started on the Burin Peninsula and ended with a dramatic arrest on a Metrobus in St. John’s.
The sequence of events unfolded on the Burin Peninsula yesterday morning when a stolen vehicle failed to pull over for RCMP. It was last seen speeding toward the Burin Peninsula Highway. The vehicle was later spotted in Dildo yesterday afternoon but once again gave police the slip.
The RNC spotted a suspicious vehicle parked on Waterford Bridge Road around 8:00 last night and confirmed it was the same vehicle.
The suspect had already fled the area on foot, however while officers were searching for him, a security guard at the Village Shopping Centre called to say a man matching the suspect’s description had hopped on a Metrobus.
RNC hauled the bus over and arrested a 39-year-old man on board.
He’s facing charges of flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous driving and breach of probation.
He was held for court.
