The Orangestore Canada Games torch arrived in Bannerman Park this afternoon ahead of the opening ceremonies and lighting of the cauldron next weekend.
Torch-bearer Florentina Stroia calls carrying the flame an honour.
“It’s as close as you can get to the Olympic Games,” says Stoia. “It’s an awesome experience. I can’t be more enthusiastic about it.”
Mayor Danny Breen was the final torch-bearer of the relay. He says he’s excited about the upcoming games.
“It’s such a big part, not only the tourism aspect, but for the community itself, having these events, and having this event here is something special.”
