A man who was already on the RNC’s wanted list for credit card theft and began his Friday evening by allegedly stealing a vehicle was corralled by law enforcement in the wee hours today after doing his best to get away.
Police flashed the lights on the 28-year-old after seeing him speeding in the west end of St. John’s. He took off, but officers found the vehicle a short distance away, abandoned. It didn’t take the RNC long to find the one suspected of being the driver.
He has been charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving while prohibited.
The owner of the car was not aware that it had been stolen until told so by officers.
Police say he had a stolen credit card on his person, and that there was a warrant out for his arrest on charges of trespassing, theft and breaches of probation.
