A man has been charged after shots were heard in the area of the Gander River Tuesday afternoon.
Wildlife officers got to the remote cabin, near Glenwood, first after spotting an illegal salmon net. RCMP officers had to be airlifted in by a helicopter company working in the area.
The cabin area was contained and a drone operator and crisis negotiator were called in.
A 47-yerar-old man was taken into custody without incident but investigators later returned to the area by boat with search warrant in hand. They seized five guns from the cabin and laid firearms charges against the suspect as well as three counts of uttering threats.
He was released from custody to appear in court this coming Thursday.
