Newfoundland and Labrador remains one of the provinces which has not signed on to the National Pharmacare Program, and there is no indication if a deal is imminent.
That program provides coverage for contraceptives and diabetes medication.
More sub-federal jurisdictions have not signed on than have, but St. John’s East MP Joanne Thompson would like to see the entire country opt in.
“The nurse in me knows well that the earlier you provide robust treatment for diabetes, the better,” says Thompson.
