The winds are going to shift from southwesterly to northerly later today and when that happens, it could push the smoke from the Conception Bay North wildfires to the metro region.
Environment Canada says the smoke plume from the Kingston fire will sweep cross metro this evening once the winds switch to the north. It’s uncertain whether the showers, which move into the region late this afternoon, will reduce the smoke concentration in any significant way.
The northerly winds will persist through Saturday.
