Forecasters are keeping a close eye on a hurricane approaching Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, although it is not expected to reach landfall in either province.
Hurricane Erin may push large waves into south-facing coastlines in the two provinces, but that would affect the eastern-most area of Newfoundland.
Ian Hubbard, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says it will be a high-pressure system.
“We probably will see some gusty winds some time during the day Saturday,” says Hubbard, but they don’t expect any extreme winds.
