Three drivers were charged as the result of a three-vehicle collision in Hillgrade on New World Island Monday, and police believe it could have been avoided had they been called in the beginning.
Twillingate RCMP responded to the scene around 2:00 Monday morning.
Police determined that the vehicles involved had initially come into contact in a parking lot in nearby Parkview.
RCMP say two drivers believed they had witnessed suspicious activity and chased the third vehicle, speeding through a number of communities before ending up in a three-vehicle collision.
All three drivers have been charged. They include a 22-year-old man from Birchy Bay who was charged with driving without a license, driving with a license plate other than the one issued, and driving without insurance. Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man and a 51-year-old man, both from Parkview, were charged with driving without due care and attention.
RCMP say the collision could have been avoided had two of the drivers contacted police instead of giving chase.
