The provincial government is moving its wildfire reception centre for people who have been evacuated as a result of the fire on the Conception Bay North Shore.
With the school year fast approaching, the centre – which had been set up at Carbonear Academy to provide food, lodging and a variety of supports to evacuees – will move to the Splash Centre in Harbour Grace starting Tuesday, August 26.
The Splash Centre will be open to evacuees starting at 3:00 p.m.

The province says the new reception centre will continue to be staffed by members of the Canadian Red Cross, the Salvation Army, other volunteers and government officials to provide food, refreshments, mental health supports and emergency accommodations for residents who need them.
