The province has been navigating a shortage of new licence plates by issuing temporary licence plates, but new plates should be in the mail shortly.
By now you’ll likely have seen pieces of paper in the rear window of some new vehicles. The temporary paper licences are good for 120 days.
Motor Vehicle Registration says the problem lies with a supply disruption with the main supplier, Nova Scotia-based Waldale Manufacturing.
A full order of licence plates has since arrived and Motor Registration is now working to replace all temporary plates.
Permanent plates will be mailed to the addresses on file.
