Two St. John’s-based lawyers are offering to provide free legal support to those affected by the wildfires in Conception Bay North.
Now that some of the evacuation orders have been lifted, many people are getting an idea of the level of damage in their communities.
Devin Drover and Judy Manning will be providing pro bono legal consultations for those affected, including reviewing insurance policies, assisting with claims related to property damage, and providing guidance on next steps.
Drover says he has experience in this area after helping out those affected by Hurricane Fiona in Port aux Basques a few years ago. He says sometimes the questions go beyond insurance issues.
For example, he says people may have questions about how to deal with a landlord or employer in the aftermath of the disaster.
Drover, who has family connections in Spaniard’s Bay and the Trinity Bay area, says he has many family and friends who are affected.
He says they are willing to provide support so people can focus on recovery rather than overwhelming paperwork and legal uncertainty.
