One of Tony Humby’s first accusers testified against him in provincial court yesterday, 18 years after the fact.
The now 34-year-old man said his life went downhill after what he continually called “the incident.”
It was a night in the fall of 2007 when, bored and lonely, the former foster child now on his own, took Humby up on an offer to hang out at his place.
He said they drank beer, smoked pot and watched a movie, with the effects starting to hit the 15-year-old.
What followed, he said, was oral and anal sex, recalling how Humby whispererd in his ear to take off his pants, then woke up on the floor with Humby on top of and inside him.
He said he pushed him off, told him off, hailed a cab home, and told his roommate, who called police. Both Humby and the teen gave statements but it was all deemed consensual and ended there.
But it was the start of a downward spiral for the teen, who turned to hard drugs, “dying twice,” he said, due to overdose.
Asked by the Crown where Tony Humby is in his mind today, he replied, coincidentally: “Dead.”
Humby, 64, faces 72 sexual violence charges involving 11 complainants.
His trial continues today, and next week, then on and off until next May.
His co-accused and neighbour Bruce Escott has already been sentenced to 13 years in prison.
