Shingles vaccines are now available to a larger segment of the population.
Previously, it had been made available to the older bracket, but now anyone who’s 50 years of age or older can get the shot for free.
Previously, the 50-64 bracket was eligible only if the person was immunocompromised.
Shingles is a painful localized rash caused by the reactivation of the virus (varicella-zoster) associated with chickenpox.
Anyone interested in getting the shot can contact a pharmacy, physician or public health office.
