Award-winning Indigenous actor Graham Greene has passed away at the age of 73.
Greene, a member of the Oneida first nation, was born on the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario, and lived in Hamilton as a young man.
Greene developed an interest in acting after working as a sound technician in this province.
His first television role came in 1979 followed by his first film role in 1983.

Greene performed in a range of films including Dances With Wolves, Thunderheart, Maverick, The Green Mile, and Die Hard with a Vengeance working alongside Hollywood A-listers Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis, and Samuel L. Jackson among others.
He garnered a long list of awards over his 40-year career including two Gemini Awards, a Grammy Award, and a Canadian Screen Award. He was also named to the Order of Canada.
He passed away yesterday after a lengthy illness.
