The town of CBS says water tanks are filling slower than expected, and until reserves reach safe levels, the mandatory water conservation order remains in place.
Water reserves must return to normal to ensure that firefighting capabilities can be maintained.
The town of Conception Bay South is asking all residents not to use water unless in an emergency, even if water is flowing through your taps.
UPDATE as of 7:45 a.m.
Water is starting to flow in the Town of Conception Bay South, however things aren’t back to normal just yet.
A leak in a pipe owned and managed by the City of St. John’s has drastically depleted the town’s water supply, forcing the closure of schools and businesses due to a state of emergency.
Mayor Darrin Bent says they’re reporting some progress this morning, however strict water conservation measures remain in place.
Bent says the repairs went well overnight and there is some water flowing back into the town, but things are not back to normal yet. He says there are several lines that will have to be recharged and the tanks will have to refill, which will take some time.
Pharmacies are open for urgent matters only. If the pharmacy is located within a grocery store, only the pharmacy is permitted to open.
Gas stations are also open for fuel sales at the pumps.
All town facilities are closed, however garbage and recycling collection will be going ahead as scheduled.

Crews have identified the source of the leak that has drastically depleted the water supply in the town of Conception Bay South, however strict water conservation measures remain in place.
Work is underway to fix a leak coming from a piece of pipe owned and managed by the City of St. John’s.
Schools in CBS are closed today and all businesses have been ordered to remain closed with a few exceptions.
Effective 8:00 a.m., pharmacies are permitted to open for urgent matters only. If the pharmacy is located within a grocery store, only the pharmacy is permitted to open.
Gas stations will also be permitted to open for fuel sales only.
All town facilities are closed, however garbage and recycling collection will be going ahead as scheduled.
