While many Canadians are venturing further abroad, a new report from Airbnb shows the domestic travel boom is showing no signs of slowing down – and Newfoundland and Labrador is one of the provinces leading the charge.
According to new information, bookings by Canadians within the province surged by more than 20 percent in the first half of this year.
Matt McNama, senior communications manager for Airbnb, doesn’t have specific numbers for destinations in this province but says it’s clear that St. John’s has seen an uptick in Airbnb bookings.
He says the increase in such bookings in this province exceeds the national numbers.
Nationally it’s 10 per cent, but in NL it’s 22. He says people are finding reasons to visit the province.
