It’s all about achieving sobriety, and a new facility just outside St. John’s will begin treating patients next week.
The Vida Nova Recovery Centre, located on the site of the former Lavrock Centre on the Salmonier Line, will eventually have capacity for 52 patients in various stages of treatment.
Eight beds will open next week and another eight a little later.
Co-owner Mark Lane says their key goal is to reduce wait times. He says there are close to 200 people wishing for such services at any given time, and the lag time is several months.
He says they hope to put a tremendous dent in the wait times as they move to full capacity of 52 units.
Lane says they will work with government and NLHS.
Government has recognized the facility as one eligible for public coverage.
