Two members of St. John’s City Council have already been elected – even though voting day is weeks away.
There were no challengers in ward one, so incumbent Jill Bruce wins another term, and nobody came forward in ward 3 other than incumbent Greg Noseworthy.
Mayor Danny Breen is facing a challenge with Ivy Hanley seeking the city’s top political job.
Six are running in ward 2, two each in ward 4 and 5, twelve in the at-large category where only four will emerge as victors, and three for deputy mayor.
St. John’s will once again use a vote-by-mail system for the upcoming election. Ballots will be mailed directly to the home – but only if the voter’s information is up to date.
There will be a new mayor in Corner Brook. Linda Chaisson and Pamela Gill are the two contenders.
In Conception Bay South, Mayor Darrin Bent goes in again – this time by acclamation.
Mount Pearl Mayor Dave Aker also went unchallenged.
