The Tony Humby sexual violence trial is now on a break following two weeks of testimony from several alleged victims and police investigators.
Complainants have related numerous times they say they were sexually abused by the now-64-year-old Humby, dating back to 2007.
Many of the youth were from group homes or shelters, alleging they would have sex with Humby in exchange for drugs, alcohol and cigarettes.
Humby’s lawyer has seized on inconsistencies and contradictions between testimony today and statements previously given to police.
There also remains the possibility that some or all of the charges could be thrown out due to trial delays.
Humby is facing 72 charges in the current trial but also has separate charges of human trafficking hanging over his head.
His co-accused, 82-year-old Bruce Escott, was sentenced earlier this year to 13 years in prison after pleading guilty.
Humby’s trial is scheduled to resume on September 22nd.
