The Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture is hosting its annual agriculture expos in Corner Brook this weekend and a little later in Grand Falls-Windsor.
To kick off each event, Agriculture in the Classroom NL is presenting a Family Fun Night, designed to connect kids and their parents with the sources of their food in an engaging way.
Chelsea Foley, the coordinator for Agriculture in the Classroom NL, says they have also put out a children’s book titled “Hay, Have You Heard?” It stresses the importance of livestock to farmers.
“Because their animals are their livelihood” says Foley. “We have large animal vets across the province that help farmers take care of their animals. So it’s the same thing, if their animals get sick, they have to get their animals looked at” and that includes the regular birthing process as well.
