“We got him”
That was how Utah Governor Spencer Cox opened a news conference today, updating the manhunt for the gunman who fatally shot conservative influencer Charlie Kirk at a public event at Utah Valley University.
Tyler Robinson was arrested and taken into custody this morning after a family member helped officials identify him.
Governor Cox thanked the suspect’s family for reaching out to law enforcement.
He says a family member of Tyler Robinson reached out to a family friend who contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with information “that Robinson had confessed to them, or implied that he had committed the incident.”
The Governor says they have been told that Robinson is “full of hate.”
“Investigators interviewed a family member of Robinson, who stated that Robinson had become more political in recent years.” Cox told today’s news conference that a family member referenced a recent incident in which Robinson came to dinner prior to September 10th, and engaged in conversation about Charlie Kirk, expressing disagreement with his view points.
