A man has been charged with impaired driving after Bay Roberts RCMP stopped a wrecked vehicle – with the airbags deployed – on the Conception Bay Highway.
The beat-up rig caught the attention of police just after 11:00 Thursday night, along the Conception Bay Highway near Birch Hills.
The slow-moving vehicle was extensively damaged.
Police say the driver, a 63-year-old man, provided breath samples that were well above the legal limit.
The front bumper was later found along the highway in Shearstown.
The accused was already prohibited from driving at the time. His license was further suspended, and the vehicle – or what was left of it – was impounded.
The man is scheduled to appear November 5th on charges of impaired driving and driving while prohibited.
