RCMP have arrested and charged a 39-year-old man after trying to stop a driver who instead chose to flee.
RCMP on the Burin Peninsula attempted to pull a vehicle over on the Creston Causeway near Ville Marie Drive Monday afternoon. Instead of pulling over, RCMP say the driver sped away in a dangerous manner.
The same vehicle was later found in Burin, parked near a vacant building. When the driver, who was outside the vehicle, was approached by police, he ran into nearby woods.
It wasn’t long before police caught up with Christopher Collins Joyce and arrested him on an outstanding warrant for assault.
He’s since been charged with two counts of resisting arrest or obstructing a police officer, flight from police, and dangerous driving.
Joyce is also facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act including driving without due care and attention, crossing a solid line, and having tinted windows.
