PC Leader Tony Wakeham today announced his party’s plan to lower taxes and help families with the cost of living.
Wakeham is promising to raise the basic personal exemption to $15,000 so that no one pays provincial income tax on their first $15,000 in earnings.
He’s also vowing to introduce a tax credit for rotational workers and permanently reduce the provincial gas tax.
Wakeham says a PC government would increase the Seniors’ Benefit by 20 per cent and expand eligibility for the NL Child Benefit to help an additional 3,000 children.
He’s also promising to expand paid work terms for students to help them gain experience and build careers at home.
The Party’s Costing Information on its latest campaign promises:
- Raise the basic personal exemption – $93.0 million
- Rotational worker tax credit – $4.8 million
- Increase the NL Seniors’ Benefit – $14.0 million
- Expand the NL Child Benefit – $5.6 million
