The Liberal Party has announced new measures to help lower the cost of living – vowing to remove the HST from heating bills.
John Hogan today outlined more than $750 million in targeted short and long-term measures, some of which have been in place since 2022, to help Newfoundlanders and Labradorians with affordability.
Hogan says if re-elected, the government will go further to reduce the cost of living by using revenue generated by the Churchill Falls agreement.
He’s promising to permanently cut the provincial gas tax, and cut taxes charged on heat bills.
“I’m announcing that a re-elected Liberal government will remove the provincial portion of the HST from all residential electricity bills in our province.”
