A prominent regional law firm is taking over some prime real estate in downtown St. John’s.
Halifax-based MacGillivray Properties has acquired the former Keg building on the waterfront.
Their plan is to relocate their injury and insurance law division from the current location on Duckworth Street.
The land is owned by the Port Authority but still requires a zoning change to allow offices in the industrial area.
That application came before the city’s committee of whole on Tuesday, with the next step a full vote of council.
Assuming it’s approved, it will mark the latest reincarnation for 135 Harbour Drive, which was built and opened 20 years ago as The Keg.
It’s also been home to Bier Markt, Mill Street Brew Pub and most recently Gahan House.
