RNC is offering a few more details about one responding officer who went above and beyond in helping a young person stuck on a cliff near the East Coast Trail in Middle Cove on Sunday.
The officer scrambled down over the rocky cliff to a young woman who was stuck on the rock face and was being sprayed by the waves crashing below.
RNC Constable James Cadigan says the officer kept the young person comfortable and secure while they waited together for rescue.
He saw that she was quite cold and wet, and took off some of his own uniform to help keep her warm.
The young person was treated by paramedics at the scene. As for the officer, it was just another day on the job.
Cadigan says he needed another dry uniform, and then “continued on with his shift.”
“It just goes to highlight,” says Cadigan, “that once that matter was resolved and everybody was safe, it was time to get back on the front line and respond to the next call for service.”
