The Progressive Conservatives have committed to a $2,000 tax credit for rotational workers, and several other initiatives aimed at job creation for careers in the trades.
Leader Tony Wakeham made the commitments while in Marystown earlier today.
The tax credit will be for workers that have to pay out of pocket to work in other provinces.
Wakeham says he has been asked why he wants to provide a tax credit for work being done out of province.
He says it is to give those workers a break while more jobs are being created in this province.
Wakeham says the creation of trades jobs will be a priority in their strategy to build ferries in this province and topsides work on Bay du Nord.
They have also committed to introducing a requirement that any public infrastructure work over $500,000 must employ a minimum of 10 per cent apprentices, and to changing policies so apprentices receive their log books once they complete primary training.
