Liberal leader John Hogan has committed to providing free school supplies to kids in primary and elementary school if the Liberals are re-elected next month.
Hogan made the announcement in Deer Lake earlier today.
He says a government he leads will provide free school supplies to children from kindergarten to grade six, beginning next September.
Hogan says government will put out an RFP for suppliers for the initiative.
The party is estimating the cost at $3-million annually. He says they will be looking at purchasing bulk supplies, and doesn’t rule out having multiple RFPs for different regions.
Hogan has also committed to further expanding the school lunch program to cover all pre-kindergarten to grade nine students across the province by the end of the 2026-2027 school year.
