Two hunters who became stranded while out boating in central Labrador have been rescued.
RCMP in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Sheshatshiu were contacted shortly after 5:00 p.m. Thursday by two hunters in distress.
The were boating up Crooked River, which is off Rope Lake, when their vessel started taking on water in rough rapids.
The hunters climbed onto a rock in the middle of the rapids and used a satellite phone to contact first responders.
Fire and Emergency Services and the Happy Valley Goose Bay Ground Search and Rescue were called in to assist police.
An RCMP aircraft and a Canadian helicopter were also sent to the area to locate the stranded men, who were airlifted to safety without incident.
