A group of new Canadians is going to participate in arguably one of the most Canadian of fundraising efforts.
For the last 14 years, the Association for New Canadians staff and volunteers have been taking part in a tribute to Terry Fox’s legacy by hosting an annual Terry Fox School Run.
This year’s event is scheduled for Thursday, October 2nd.
The director of language services with ANC, Leo Etchegary, says participants look forward to the event, especially after learning about Terry Fox’s feat of physical endurance in the face of some daunting challenges.
Students, staff, volunteers and children from the school’s daycare will meet in the school parking lot, and then walk a portion of the Rennie’s River Trail.
Money raised through the event will go toward cancer research while they honour a Canadian hero and icon.
The walk will be moved to Tuesday, October 7th in the event of poor weather.
